PRINTFLOODS at the Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute (SMHI)

In September 2023, the PRINTFLOODS project team were at the Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute (SMHI)’s headquarters in Norrköping, Sweden, to participate in the CLINT Project General Assembly and in the HEPEX Annual Workshop.

The CLINT General Assembly took place from the 11th to the 13th of September. The HEPEX workshop followed immediately after on 13-15 September. The topic of the HEPEX workshop was “Forecasting across spatial scales and time horizons”. Both events were very rich of interesting discussions and inspiring talks bringing new ideas and connections for the project.

At the HEPEX Workshop, Dr Andrea Ficchì presented his research linked to PRINTFLOODS and CLINT, with a talk on ”Enhancing Tropical Cyclone Rainfall Forecasts for Anticipatory Humanitarian Action using Deep Learning”. He has also been honoured to be invited in the Early Career Researcher (ECR) panel alongside other 3 panelists to share their experience in the ECR journey and their views to navigate future water research challenges.
